It takes place at the Tabari Artspace of the DIFC in Dubai, until 27 January. Between serigraphs and independent canvases, Ziad Al Najjar's works are of all sizes, always linked together by a palette of soft, pastel colours, with compositions that are intended to be organic, natural. The fact that the young artist works on several canvases at the same time also explains the thread existing between the canvases.
His studies in art history gave him some knowledge of Islamic art from the 13th to the 17th centuries, and he was inspired by the past trend of the Persian miniatures representing animals and natural elements. One can easily find in his paintings goats, which are a frequent feature of the artist's work.
"I have always had animals and I feel a certain connection with them. They have a different way of appropriating the world. Rather than looking at other people, you look at these animals, with whom we can only have a limited interaction." - Ziad Al Najjar (The National).
