Riad Sattouf wins first prize at the Angoulême International Comics Festival (France)

During the award ceremony, Riad Sattouf paid tribute to his maternal grandmother, who was the first to believe in his talent.

"I tried to publish a comic book she would have like to read, knowing that she did not appreciate comics."

The author has sold over three million copies worldwide of his autobiographical series in six volumes, "The Arab of the Future". Riad Sattouf is also famous for "Esther's notebooks" and "The Young Actor", in which he tells the acting debut of French actor Vincent Lacoste. The author has also recently opened his own publishing house called "Les Livres du futur" (in English "The Books of the Future".
