Two young women were awarded the Awa Prize for Entrepreneurship, an initiative of the Belgian Development Agency which honours women's entrepreneurship in the partner countries of the Belgian Cooperation, and celebrates the positive impact of their projects on their communities.
Rim Machhour won first place in the "Innovation" category, while Safae Bennouna came third in the "Scale up" category.
Rim Machhour, who holds a master's degree in social innovation, co-founded "Dealkhir.ma", a solidarity e-commerce platform, which promises to donate 70% of the amount paid for each purchase to an association or a solidarity project.
Safae Bennouna has distinguished herself thanks to her company Hedo, which creates women's fashion items in collaboration with craftsmen.
