Nourie Flayhan denounces through her illustrations the recent feminicides which happened in Sharjah, Cairo and Amman.

The 31-year-old Lebanese illustrator created a series of portraits, revealing the faces of three recently murdered women from the Arab world. They are :

  • Nayera Ashraf, student at the Egyptian University of Mansoura. On June 20, she had her throat slit by a student, following her refusal to marry him.
  • Iman Rashid, shot dead on the campus of Amman University of Applied Sciences, whose killer has not yet been identified. It seems that the young woman had rejected him.
  • Lubna Mansour, an engineering student from Jordan, stabbed as she got into her car in Sharjah. She was divorcing her husband, who murdered her.

The portraits made by Nourie Flayhan have since been shared hundreds of times on social media, raising awareness of the horror of these killings, some of which being still unpunished.
