Luxor opens new rooms in restored Hatshepsut temple and Meru tomb

Egypt restored, documented and opened to tourists the Middle Kingdom tomb of Meru, the oldest publicly accessible site in Luxor, which hosts some of its most spectacular pharaonic monuments, including the Valley of the Kings. Meru was a high official in the court of King Mentuhotep II of the 11th Dynasty, who reigned until 2004 BC and who, like Meru, was buried at the North Asasif Necropolis, the ministry said in a statement on February 9.
