The Berlin International Film Festival, taking place from 16 to 26 February, will present among its short films "The Caterpillars" directed by Noël and Michelle Keserwany as part of the Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art.
Inspired by this imagery and the working conditions of women silk workers in the 19th century between the city of Lyon and the Levant, notably Mount Lebanon, this film addresses a contemporary story of displacement, working conditions, the effect of historical events on our modern lives, our own fragility after subsequent disappointments and traumas, and our sense of resistance through the story of a meeting between two women.
Synopsis: Two women meet as waitresses and become temporary friends. They are both originally from the Levant and now live in exile in France.
A film about the historical, geographical and economic impact of silk production, about exploitation and female solidarity.
