The Moroccan Goncourt literary prize will be awarded by 70 students and their teachers. Their mission will be to read and debate to choose the laureate among the books selected by the Goncourt Academy:

  • « Le Mage du Kremlin » by Giuliano da Empoli,
  • « Les presque soeurs » by Cloé Korman,
  • « Une somme humaine » by Makenzy Orcel,
  • « Vivre vite » by Brigitte Giraud, the 2022 Goncourt laureate.

The jury will be accompanied throughout the year by the writer Lamia Berrada Berca, patron of this first edition.

At the end of the process, the 70 students will vote for the book of their choice, before electing one of them to represent them in the final vote, on the sidelines of the International Book and Publishing Fair, which will take place from 1 to 12 June 2023 in Rabat. The winning book of the Moroccan Goncourt Prize will be translated into Arabic.

This first edition is organised by the network of the French Institute in Morocco, in partnership with the "Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie" and the network of media libraries of the French Institute in Morocco.
