Cairo: Umm Kulthum at the heart of the Book Fair

A concert celebrating 50 years of friendship between the United Arab Emirates and Egypt took place on 27 January. Egyptian singer Marwa Nagy performed a selection of songs by the star of the East, Umm Kulthum. The concert coincided with the launch of the artist's latest biography, 'Umm Kulthum: Poetry and Singing', written by Egyptian author Ahmed Youssef Ali.

The show, held at the Sultan Al Ghuri Complex in Cairo, was organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre as part of its programme for the Cairo International Book Fair, which runs until 6 February.
