The Shababeek Independent Film Festival has started with the theme "Start Your Story", encouraging young filmmakers to make their films according to their own ideas and available means.
During the opening ceremony, the film "The Hole" by Lebanese director Ali Bazzi, the documentary "The Maker of Dreams" by Algerian director Abdallah Mansour Bagraf and the animation film "Offline" by Tunisian director Nihad Rahmani were screened.
Upcoming screenings include the following independent films:
- "Dreams Without a Ceiling" by Mohamed Allal (Algeria)
- "Bridge" by Shawki Bukaf (Algeria)
- "Ghayyat al-Men" by Mohamed Ismail (Egypt)
- "Walls You Will Remember Me" by Hisham Abdel Khaleq (Egypt)
- "Cages" by Hussein al-Akeli (Iraq)
- "Shoemaker Paradise" by Haider Hussein Talib (Iraq)
- "Shereen" by Zaid Shukr (Iraq)
- "Circle" by Muhammad al-Ajmi (Oman)
- "Our Roots" by Mustafa Al-Badan (Palestine)
- "Until the last beat" by Rasha Hashem (Yemen).
