The American Metropolitan Opera paid tribute to Egyptian actor Mohammed Sobhi, in the presence of Egyptian Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem. The tribute recognises the artist's contribution to the Egyptian arts scene, as well as his adaptation of Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' 40 years ago.

Mohammed Sobhi presented this play to the Egyptian public in 1971 as an opera. Since then, Sobhy's 'Hamlet' has been performed by several Egyptian stars such as Hanaa Al Shorbagi, Ahmed Maher, Emad Rashad and others.
