The Tripoli Fair: Unesco used an emergency procedure to inscribe the site following its alarming state of conservation

Designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, the Rachid Karame International Fair in Tripoli - "one of the major representative works of 20th century architecture in the Arab Middle East" according to Unesco - has been inscribed on the world heritage list, but also on the list of heritage in danger. This decision made by the Unesco has alerted the international community regarding the danger the monument faces, hopefully speeding up the restoration work.
