Luxor African Film Festival from 4 to 10 February

This year's festival will be directed by Egyptian director and activist Azza El Hosseiny, with Egyptian producer and actor Mahmoud Hemida as honorary president. The festival will feature 42 films, including 12 features and 15 shorts.

The Arab feature films in competition are the following:

  • "El Gotra" by Younes Ben Hajria (Tunisia);
  • "The Life After" by Anis Djaad (Algeria);
  • "Hair House" by Malika Maa El-Einin (Morocco);
  • "Far From the Nile" by Sherif El-Katsha (Egypt).

The jury for feature films is represented by Senegalese filmmaker Mansour Sora Wade, Tunisian filmmaker Sonia Chamkhi, Moroccan actress Amal Ayouch, Egyptian scriptwriter Abdelrehim Kamal and Egyptian producer and scriptwriter Mohamed Hafzy.

In the short film category, the Arab films are:

  • "Zaffa", by Ahmed Samir (Egypt);
  • "Worth of 100 men", by Ahmed Moawad (Egypt);
  • "Dear Rola" by Marie Badir (Egypt);
  • "He's dead now", by Tarek Al-Sherbiny (Egypt);
  • "Dear Ward", by Marwa El-Sharkawy (Egypt);
  • "Trace", by Farag Maiouf (Libya);
  • "Nejma mars 2020", Laila Msefer (Morocco);
  • "Rehla" by Jamil Najjar (Tunisia).

The jury for short films is represented by Senegalese journalist and director Oumy Ndour, Zambian filmmaker Paul S. Wilo, filmmaker and director of the film "Rehla Wilo, Tunisian filmmaker Latifa Doghri, Egyptian singer and actress Bushra and Egyptian actor Karim Kassem.
