Doha: the winners of the Sheikh Hamad Prize for Translation and International Understanding

HE Sheikh Thani bin Hamad Al Thani honoured the winners of the eighth Sheikh Hamad Prize for Translation and International Understanding at a ceremony in Doha.

Muhyiddin Majid won first place in the category of translation from Arabic into Turkish for translating the book "Interpretation of Beyond Nature" by Ibn Rushd.

In the category of translation from Turkish into Arabic, first place was won by Saleh Saadawi for his translation of the book "History of the Art of Calligraphy" by Muhyiddin Sirin.

In the category of translation from Arabic into English, William Hutchence won first prize for his translation of "Small Death" by Muhammad Hassan Alwan.

In the English to Arabic translation category, there was no first prize. However, second place was shared by Muhammad Abdel Salam Hamshi for his translation of "Populism and World Politics: Exploring Inter- and Transnational Dimensions' by David McDonald and others"; and by Ayman Haddad for his translation of "Gaza: An Inquest into its Martyrdom" by Norman Finkelstein.
