“Books from both shores”, a new literary program linking the North and the South of the Mediterranean Sea.

The program is implemented by the French Institute. It runs until February 2023.

It is a pilot project aimed at supporting the dialogue between civil societies of the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

The project wants to establish networks and partnerships, as well as to encourage dialogue between civil societies in France, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. It also aims at strengthening the book industry in Western Mediterranean.

The cooperation would be based on two axes:

  • translation, by supporting translation flows between the French and the Arabic languages;
  • boosting the translating and publishing industries.
