"Dof'at London": the Kuwaiti series scandal

A drama series featuring a pan-Arab cast broadcast for Ramadan has sparked controversy over its portrayal of Iraqi characters. Broadcast nightly on MBC, the series "Dof'at London" (London Class) follows the lives of Arab medical students living in the British capital in the 1980s.

Written by Kuwaiti author Heba Mashari Hamada and directed by Egyptian Mohamed Bakir, the first episodes caused controversy because of their portrayal of Iraqi women as dishonest and uneducated.
