The "French Coffee" tradition continues in Riyadh

The French Cafe was held for the first time on 2 January 2019. It now has nearly 200 members who meet on Wednesdays and discuss political, economic and social issues, as well as philosophical ones, in French.

The diversity of the profiles participating in this weekly meeting adds to its interest. Members come from Syria, Tunisia, Mali, Sudan, Lebanon, Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Eritrea, Egypt, Canada, Belgium, Yemen and Saudi Arabia. All have very different backgrounds and occupations. There are doctors, midwives, lawyers, professors, financiers, diplomats...

The group is also active on social networks, in order to promote its activities and continue the debates which happened in person.

The French Cafe, the French Embassy in Riyadh and the Alliance française de Riyad organised a Francophone Souhour on 29 March. The participants shared their encounter and their relationship with the French language, on the occasion of the Francophonie Festival.
