"The Black Book of the White City", a collection of Casablanca's grievances.

For the founder of the Facebook page "Save Casablanca", the idea to write this book came from a simple observation: if social media allow some freedom of expression and interactivity, they have their limits. Mouna Hachim decided to mobilise against the "appalling slowness" of the construction undertaken in the city and the lack of response from the institutions to certain problems in order to send a report on the situation via a PDF file and a book, both addressed to the media and the general public, in the hope of tackling the current situation.

First published online as a PDF file in 2021, "The Black Book of the White City" is now available in an updated paper version, published by La Croisée des Chemins. One can therefore discover the construction projects which were completed - e.g. the opening of a public rubbish dump and the closing of the Mediouna rubbish dump, the Aïn Diab corniche, the Hassan II mosque promenade, ... - and the ones which are still pending: the zoological park of Aïn Sebaâ which has been under construction since 2015; the great theatre, the construction of which started in 2014; etc...

The 258 pages are illustrated with beautiful black and white photographs of Casablanca, all taken by Moroccan artist Brahim Taougar.
