Deir el-Qamar: the kiosk of Emir Ahmad Chehab is restored by the Tarazi House.

The kiosk is a symbolic architectural element of the facades of Amir Ahmad Chehab's palace in Deir el-Qamar, better known as Gergis Baz Palace. Dating from 1755, it was deeply deteriorated, notably due to a lack of maintenance during the Lebanese civil war. To restore it to its original state, the Tarazi House - a family business founded in 1862 and which, for five generations, has been specialised in the production of oriental objects of art, furniture and decoration - embarked on a work of research, diving into the archives of the Ministry of Tourism.

The rehabilitation work took six months to complete. Made of Canadian cedar wood, the kiosk features woodwork painted with geometric and floral motifs in relief using the Nabati technique, with colours faithful to those of the original.
