"Portrait" by choreographer Mehdi Kerkouche opens the 31st edition of the Suresnes Cités Danse Festival.

Presentation of the show: "Mehdi Kerkouche chooses the subject of family heritage as choreographic material. It is through the crazy bodies of a tribe of pop dancers that he gives us his version. Happy, embarrassing, toxic, absent family? How do you extract yourself from it or, on the contrary, take refuge in it? How do you assert your individuality in a family culture that could determine everything? They are a whole tribe on the set. An apparently homogeneous group. And yet, it takes only a few seconds for each of the personalities to break free and manifest themselves. (Press release).

Being a dancer since the age of six, Mehdi Kerkouche became famous online during the Covid-19 French lockdown. He was nominated at the head of the National Choreographic Centre of Créteil and Val-de-Marne this month. He also accompanies Belgian singer Angèle on the tour of her last album, and he has just presented his show "Portrait" at the opening of the Suresnes Cités Danse Festival. In addition, he was also behind the show "And if", performed in 2020 at the Opera Garnier in Paris, and he was in charge of the 3rd edition of the digital festival "We dance in your home" at Chaillot National Theatre. He is the founder of dance company, EMKA, which he created in 2017.
