Protection of new buildings and monuments in Tunisia.

A recent ministerial decree protects eighteen new monuments in eleven governorates. Here is the list:

18 historical and archaeological monuments in 11 governorates (Tunis, Ben Arous, Bizerte, Béja, Zaghouan, Kairouan, Sidi Bouzid, Gafsa, Sousse, Gabès and Kébili) listed below:

Governorate of Tunis :

  • The headquarters of the Tunis transport company
  • The headquarters of the Ministry of Finance located at the Kasbah Square
  • The religious complex of Sidi Bou Saïd

Governorate of Ben Arous :

  • The villa known as Dar Chnik and its garden
  • The defensive monument at Radès

Governorate of Bizerte :

  • The old railway station of Sejnane

Governorate of Béja :

  • Djebel Gorâa in Djebba
  • Ksar Ouled Debbab
  • The Roman baths of Henchir Matria
  • The megalithic necropolis of Guaren El Kabech in Dougga

Governorate of Zaghouan :

  • The Bourguiba Palace in Beni Darraj

Governorate of Kairouan :

  • The site of the rock paintings of Aïn El-Khanfous

Governorate of Sidi Bouzid :

  • The ancient hydraulic diversion work of Wadi Haddaj

Governorate of Gafsa :

  • The troglodyte caves of Jebel Sned

Governorate of Sousse :

  • The hydraulic basins of El Majel Lazreg

Governorate of Gabès :

  • The prehistoric site of Oued Akarit
