The Architecture Biennale will be held from May 20 to November 26, 2023 (pre-opening 18-19 May), curated by academic, educator and best-selling novelist Lesley Lokko, who said: "Architects have a unique opportunity to propose ambitious and creative ideas that help us imagine together a more equitable and optimistic future."
The Culture Authority has selected Maryam Aljomairi and Latifa Alkhayat to curate the pavilion exhibition. Both are brilliant architecture students , one completing her PhD at Harvard University and the other being a research assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The Bahrain National Pavilion will challenge the public on the issue of water, a resource that is crucial to human survival, and thus by exploring the extreme weather conditions in the Kingdom, which oscillate between high heat and high humidity. The idea is to take advantage of the event to discover new solutions to the current climate crisis, while focusing on local solutions.
