Texas: Hind Chaouat exhibits "For Mahsa Amini" at Arts Fort Worth

The young visual artist continues to bring the voice of women and the feminist struggle, this time in the United States. On the occasion of the exhibition "Woman Life Freedom", she proposes an installation including:

  • A photograph: "Kahinan feminist warrior"
  • A video, "Flawlessness", which denounces violence against women and has won several awards;
  • A quote from Simon de Beauvoir: "Never forget that it only takes a political, economic or religious crisis for women’s rights to be called into question. These rights can never be taken for granted. You must remain vigilant throughout your life."

By bringing these three elements into dialogue, the artist wants "to pay homage to Mahsa Amini, the young Iranian martyr, a modern-day heroine who, through her act of rebellion, was the catalyst for the Iranian revolution" - a statement taken from the press release.

Hind Chaouat is the 2004 winner of the Icart Photo competition organised by the EDH Group in Paris. She is originally from the city of Fez and is currently based in Casablanca.
