Ghar El Melh lagoon and its scientific observatory OMELI have been added to the Eschatology Demonstration Sites, by the Intergovernmental Hydrological Program of the Unesco.
The establishment these sites around the world has begun in 2011. The objective is to apply ecohydrology solutions in various catchments at all scales, as a trans disciplinary, scientific approach to achieve water quality improvement, for biodiversity enhancement, and sustainable development.
